International Airports

Valdris Lyra International Airport (VLI)

12 km east of central Valdris

Aurora's primary gateway. Lyra International handles approximately 18 million passengers annually and is served by over 40 international carriers with direct flights from Europe, North America, East Asia, and the Gulf. The airport is modern, uncrowded by major hub standards, and consistently ranked among the most pleasant airports in the world. The Valdris Express rail link connects arrivals to the city centre in 22 minutes.

Miravel Coastal Airport (MCA)

4 km north of Miravel town centre

The southern gateway, primarily serving leisure travellers bound for the Aurean Coast. MCA operates seasonal direct routes from major European cities (April–October) and year-round connections via Valdris. A small, modern facility; taxi and bus links to Miravel town centre take under 15 minutes.

Celestra Mountain Airfield (CLA)

Celestra town

A small regional airfield serving light aircraft and private charters. Scheduled turboprop services connect Celestra to Valdris twice daily (45 minutes). Not suitable for large jets.

Nordvik Ferry Terminal — Halvort Harbour

The classic crossing. Departs the mainland port of Nordvik each evening, arriving at Halvort in the Nordvik Peninsula at dawn. High-speed catamaran option available in summer (5 hours). Cabin berths and a full restaurant on board.

Porto Meridian — Miravel

Aurean Ferries

The southern crossing — warm, scenic, and popular with cyclists and motorists. Connects the continental port of Porto Meridian to Miravel. Vehicle decks are available. Booking in advance is essential in peak season.

Auroran National Ferries

Domestic ferry services from Valdris connect to: Halvort (2.5 hours), Miravel (3 hours), Greenveil landing (1.5 hours), and the Solaris Archipelago (2 hours). Day passes available for island-hopping.

Visa Requirements

Aurora operates a visa-free entry policy for citizens of over 90 countries, including all EU member states, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and most of South and Southeast Asia. Eligible visitors may stay for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Visitors from countries not on the visa-free list must apply for a Visitor Visa (Type A) through the Auroran Embassy in their country of residence. Applications typically take 5–10 working days and require a valid passport, proof of onward travel, and evidence of sufficient funds (minimum AUR 500 per week of stay).

All visitors must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended departure date. Travel insurance covering medical expenses is strongly recommended. Auroran healthcare is excellent but not free for visitors.

Extended Stays

Working and student visas are managed by the Auroran Immigration Authority. Digital nomad visas (Type DN, up to 12 months) were introduced in 2022 and are available to remote workers earning income from outside Aurora. Applications available online.

Getting Around Aurora

Aurora Rail

The national rail network connects Valdris to Miravel (2.5 hrs), Celestra (1.5 hrs), Greenveil (1 hr), and the Nordvik coast (3 hrs). Frequent, punctual, and scenic — the coastal routes are among the most beautiful train journeys in the world. The Valdris Metro also serves the capital's seven main districts.

Aurora Bus

A comprehensive inter-city coach network covers all major towns not on the rail line, including Halvort, Thermis Vale, and the Aurean Coast resort towns. The Auroran National Bus Pass offers unlimited travel on all coach and metro routes for 7 or 14 days.

Car Rental

Major international rental agencies operate at Lyra Airport and Miravel Airport. An international driving licence is accepted. Roads are excellent on the main routes; mountain and coastal tracks are best navigated in a 4WD. Driving is on the right. Speed limits: 50 km/h urban, 100 km/h highway.

Cycling

Aurora has over 2,000 km of designated cycle routes, including the Aurean Coastal Cycle Path (185 km, south coast) and the Valdris Valley Green Loop (65 km, fully paved). Bike rental is available in all major towns. Bikes travel free on trains outside peak hours.

Domestic Ferries

The Auroran National Ferry network connects coastal towns and the Solaris Archipelago. All-day passes available. Services are frequent in summer; reduced in winter.

Taxis & Rideshare

Metered taxis are available in all cities and most large towns. The AuroraRide app (equivalent to Uber) operates in Valdris, Miravel, and Celestra. Fares are regulated and reasonable by international standards.
